Teenage Haircare

Teenagers often find that their hair is changing. Just like the skin, hair often gets oilier during this time. The sebaceous glands, which produce oil on the scalp, tend to overproduce during times of hormonal change. When too much oil is produced the and scalp and hair will be oil or greasy. Luckily, for most people the oil production will decrease as the move on into their 20’s.
Teens have a tendency to try and remove by washing more frequently. For most people washing every other day should be sufficient. Too much washing, especially with chemical products, may take away too much of the oil and leave the hair dry and damaged. Hair that is too dry can cause more problems. The key is to remove enough oil to create a balance of oil on the scalp and in hair.
You need to use a mild shampoo with the right ingredients. Zinc pca is an excellent natural ingredient for oily hair. It removes enough oil and helps to regulate the sebum glands production. It also gently cleanses both hair and scalp. If you spend a lot of time outdoors, swimming, or use a lot of heated styling tools hair may be easily damaged. It is important to replace the moisture that is lost during these activities.
