How to Prevent Lice in Children
A common problem among children at
school age is having head lice. Lice prefer to live in clean and oil
free hair so that it can travel easily in different the locations of
your head. There are more 100 eggs that can be laid by female lice
in just 10-12 days. The nits or eggs of lice are mostly found at the
base of the hair. They cause intense itching and can be seen easily.
The eggs of lice have brown color and
may be found close to the scalp. They will turn white or clear once
hatched and may be found further from the scalp. Nits are usually
found attached on hair behind the ears, around the scalp and around
the nape of the neck. These parasites have claws that grasp in the
hair and skin to suck blood.
Lice can be transmitted easily from
one person to another. Children interact closely with many chilcren,
be it at school or when at play. Children should avoid getting their
heads close to children who are inflicted with lice.
Try doing the following things to
prevent the spread of lice among children:

If your child has a long hair, (this
applies to female children) be sure to tie it well at back.

Advise your child not to borrow
personal items from their classmates like comb and hats. These are
things that easily transmit lice from one person to another.

Be sure to check their hair
regularly to make sure that there are no lice transmitted to them.

fine-toothed combs. It is designed to kill lice and their eggs and

remedies. Rinse hair with thyme oil, lavender, aniseed or
sassafras. Don’t forget to apply some coconut or olive oil to
scalp to avoid dryness. Rinse with shampoo after a few hours.

prices. Make sure than the products is not too strong so as not to
irritate your child’s sensitive scalp.

in treating lice. Lastly, rinse hair with mild
hair shampoo.
Head lice
could be irritating but not life threatening. Treating them with
dangerous chemicals may harm your child’s health. It is best to
choose the safest method of treating them to avoid unwanted results.
