Different Types of Skin Rashes
There are several
different types of skin rashes. Dermatitis, also called
eczema, is a general rash
characterized by inflammation, redness, swelling, and itching. In
several cases, blistering and oozing (weeping) also occur. The most
usual form of eczema is called atopic dermatitis. Further forms include
contact dermatitis,
Seborrheic dermatitis, and nummular dermatitis.
Atopic dermatitis affects 10–15% of children and reason rashes and
itching, which could be severe. This condition typically improves later
in childhood, but many people are affected to some degree throughout
their lives. Genetics play a significant role in the occurrence of
atopic dermatitis and families with a history of
asthma and
allergies knowledge a higher incidence rate.
Contact dermatitis results from contact to an irritating substance,
such as detergents, soaps, evident plants, and solvents. It can also
result from an obtain hypersensitivity to a substance that causes an
allergic reaction (allergen). In this case, the initial exposure to a
particular allergen does not trigger a reaction or annoyance, but causes
the person to develop sensitivity. Successive exposure then produces an
itchy rash.
Seborrheic dermatitis
frequently occurs on the face, behind the ears, or on the scalp (called
dandruff). Waxy scales and reddened skin region characterize the
condition. Nummular dermatitis can develop at any age, but is most
frequent after the age of 60. It is a long-lasting (chronic) situation
characterized by round plaques of eczema.
Hives are also medically known as Urticaria. Hives are extremely
itchy. They are tiny red round disc-like areas over the body. They are
variety of sizes from a dime to a saucer. Hives are a result of an
allergic response to just about anything such as certain foods,
sunlight, medicine, insect nibble or sting, heat and more, depending on
the person. A number of common triggers are chocolate, seafood, and
strawberries.
Psoriasis the cause unidentified but it is
inherited and can occur at any age. It causes thick scaled-over pinkish
or purplish areas on the elbows, neck, knees, scalp or back. Stress and
illness
makes them reappear or
worsen. Sometimes arthritis in the rash areas can appear.
